Fortitude Music Hall guide: parking, bags, seating, trains

The Fortitude Music Hall is a 3,000-capacity live music venue on the Brunswick Street Mall in Fortitude Valley, about two kilometres from Brisbane's CBD. It opened in 2019 in an art deco style building, and it can be set up as a full-size room, a smaller "intimate" room or a seated theatre, so the same venue feels quite different from show to show.

How do I get to The Fortitude Music Hall?

The venue is on a pedestrian mall in the middle of the Valley's bar and club strip. It suggests leaving the car at home, and public transport is very close.

Nearest train station

Fortitude Valley station is the nearest, about 200 metres away, or "a quick three minute stroll" according to the venue. It says all Brisbane train lines stop there, including the Gold Coast, Ipswich and Sunshine Coast lines. Translink's stop page lists four platforms. Bus

The venue says there are many bus stops around the Valley, and many are less than a minute's walk away. Plan your route with the Translink Journey Planner.

Taxi and rideshare

Because the venue is on a pedestrian mall, cars can't pull up at the door. The closest taxi rank is at the top of the Brunswick Street Mall on Ann Street. Others are on Wickham Street outside McWhirters, Brunswick Street North and Brunswick Street South. The venue says Uber, Ola and DiDi all operate in the Valley.

Getting home after the show

For most shows, regular trains from Fortitude Valley station are the simplest way home. Last-train times depend on your line and the day, so check the Translink Journey Planner before you go.

If you stay out late on a Friday or Saturday, Translink runs Nightlink services. As of 26 September 2026, its late night services page says:

• Nightlink trains run between midnight and 5am on Friday and Saturday nights, stopping at all stations on the Beenleigh, Caboolture and Ipswich lines.
• Fortitude Valley station is only open to Nightlink passengers between 3:15am and 4am.
• Nightlink buses leave from Fortitude Valley and Brisbane City. Most pick up at any stop along the route, and they will drop you anywhere on the route where it's safe to stop. Security guards ride on board.
• Secure taxi ranks run on Friday and Saturday nights on Wickham Street, just past the Brunswick Street intersection outside McWhirters, and on Ann Street approaching Duncan Street, opposite Cloudland. They have marshals, security guards and CCTV. Late night FlatFare fares apply.

Is there parking at The Fortitude Music Hall?

Yes, but it's paid. The venue lists these car parks:

The venue recommends booking online for the best rates. Its accessibility page also mentions Brisbane City Council metered street parking nearby. Check current rates with each car park.

Bag policy: what can you bring?

These rules come from the venue's conditions of entry on its FAQ page, as of 26 September 2026. Management can refuse entry to, or remove, anyone who brings a prohibited item or doesn't follow the conditions.

The prohibited list also includes:

• alcohol, glass, cans and metal drink containers
• hot food or meals
• DSLR cameras, video cameras, audio recorders, tripods and selfie sticks
• laptops and tablets
• large umbrellas, aerosol cans, and furniture such as chairs and stools
• prams and strollers, bicycles, scooters, rollerblades and skateboards
• banners, posters or flags bigger than A3, and unauthorised promotional or offensive material
• musical instruments (unless you're a performer)
• laser pointers, flares, fireworks and smoke bombs
• weapons, illegal substances, drones and balloons
• animals, except service and police dogs

Phones and cameras: smartphones are fine for photos and video, but the venue says "All DSLR cameras must be left at home."

Smoking and vaping: the venue is strictly smoke-free, including e-cigarettes and vaping.

Is there a cloakroom?

The venue's only word on this is that its "cloak room space will be extremely limited." Plan to carry what you bring, and keep it to a small bag.

Can you leave and come back in?

Generally no. The conditions of entry say "No pass-outs will be issued, unless approved by Venue management." The venue's Premium FAQ does say that Premium Lounge guests "may return throughout the event".

Age restrictions: can under-18s go?

It depends on the show. Ticketmaster says children's admission depends on the licensing for each event, so check the age rule on your event page before you buy.

The venue's standing rules are:

• 12 and under must be with an adult in unlicensed areas, and are not allowed in licensed areas at all.
• Photo ID is required at every show, because it's a licensed venue. It accepts driver licences, 18+ cards and passports.

Dress code

Enclosed shoes are required at all shows. The venue says if you turn up in thongs, flip-flops or Crocs, you won't be let in.

Seating, standing and capacity

The Fortitude Music Hall can be set up in three ways, according to the venue:

The main auditorium is on the ground floor, at mall level, with a mezzanine above it. Hutchinson Builders, which built the venue, says the mezzanine can be closed off for smaller shows. The venue says many events are general admission standing, so your ticket and the event page will tell you whether your show is standing, seated or a mix.

Accessibility

• Step-free entry: the venue has wheelchair access from street level with no steps at the entrance.
• Wheelchair viewing: at full-venue shows there's a reserved wheelchair area on the mezzanine, reached by lift and monitored by security. At smaller downstairs shows there's a sectioned area towards the front of the stage.
• Seating if you can't stand: many shows are standing, but there's accessible seating at the back of the auditorium on a slightly raised platform, and the venue can arrange chairs.
• Companion Card: show your card at the box office when your ticket is scanned. For anything to arrange before the show, email admin@thefortitude.com.au.
• Toilets: there are two gender-neutral accessible toilets, plus gender-specific bathrooms, across the ground floor foyer and the mezzanine level, all on even ground with no steps.
• Hearing assistance: the venue has a radio frequency assistive listening system called ListenRF, which sends the PA sound straight to you without boosting background noise.
• Sensory needs: staff can direct you to a quieter space, usually The Outpost bar on the mezzanine, where music is turned down during performances. The venue also points to its KultureCity page to help you plan your visit.
• Accessible parking: the venue suggests McWhirters car park, one block away, which has lifts to all levels.

Food and drink

The venue has bars, and Australasian Leisure Management counted five at opening, including a long foyer bar. There are free water stations inside. Hot food and meals can't be brought in, and neither can alcohol. The venue's pages don't say what food is on sale on show nights or which payment types the bars take, so check with the venue if that matters to you.

Tickets, doors and set times

• Door times are on your ticket and the event page. The venue says set times are posted by the promoter on social media or their website.
• If a show hasn't sold out, tickets are sold at the box office on the day. There are no ticket outlets in stores.
• Collecting tickets from the box office? It opens when doors open, and you'll need photo ID.
• Digital tickets are preferred. A printed e-ticket works if it's the original image.
• If you can't go, Ticketmaster has its own resale service. The venue warns that scams are common on other resale sites, and names Viagogo. Ask Ticketmaster about refunds.

The Outpost and Premium Lounge

The Outpost is a 300-capacity bar and venue on the mezzanine, inside the same building. It has a 3am liquor licence and serves cocktails, whisky and rum.

On some shows, a Premium Lounge ticket gets you into The Outpost. As of 26 September 2026, the venue says:

• It opens 30 minutes before the main venue doors, with its own entrance between Pig and Whistle and Black Bear Lodge.
• It includes a drink on arrival, a grazing board and a priority lane at The Outpost bar until the main act starts.
• It does not include entry to the show. You need a separate show ticket.
• Seating inside is first come, first served, and only Premium Lounge ticket holders can go in.
• Premium guests can come and go during the event, and the entrance is fully accessible.

Before you go

• Check your event page for door times and the age rule.
• Pack a bag of 30cm x 30cm or smaller. No backpacks.
• Bring photo ID: a driver licence, 18+ card or passport.
• Wear enclosed shoes.
• Plan your train from Fortitude Valley station, and check the last train or Nightlink times for your trip home.
• If you're driving, book a car park in advance.
